The theme will be explored through selected readings and special events. "The Quest" often reflects life as a journey composed of separate stages, each with its own problems and potential rewards. In literature this theme may be symbolic or literal.

	November 13, 2008: Banville, John, The Sea: A newly widowed middle-aged man returns to the seaside vacation town of his youth in his quest to gain understanding of his past. Winner of the Booker Prize.
	December 11, 2008: Cather, Willa, Death Comes for the Archbishop: The challenges and rewards of two priests in their quest to reawaken Catholicism in New Mexico during the mid 1800's.
	January 8, 2009: Presentation by The Royal Palm Players.
	February 12, 2009: McCarthy, Cormac, The Road: A father and son's quest for survival for themselves and for humanity in a post-apocalyptic world.Winner of the Pulitzer Prize.
	March 12, 2009: Geniesse, Jane, American Priestess: Guest author Jane Geniesse will discuss her experiences and her newest book, American Priestess. Meeting will be in auditorium. Refreshments and book-signing after Ms. Geniesse's presentation.
	April 9, 2009: Coetzee, J.M., Disgrace: A multi-layered story of a disgraced South African professor's quest for shelter from his personal humiliation. Winner of the Booker Prize.

The Literature Forum's Mission is to select quality fiction that leads to lively discussion and critical thinking. The public is invited to participate in all discussions.
